草莓视频成年 Announces Academic Freedom and Cultural Perspectives Forum on Sept. 12

草莓视频成年 University announced today it will host a national forum titled 鈥淎cademic Freedom and Cultural Perspectives 鈥 Challenges for Higher Ed Today and Tomorrow鈥 on Tuesday, Sept. 12. The forum will draw a panel of nationally recognized experts together to examine the intersection of academic freedom and diverse cultural perspectives 鈥 two principles that are foundational to higher education.

鈥湶葺悠党赡 is proud to take the lead by gathering some of the most esteemed voices to further this national conversation,鈥 草莓视频成年 President Fayneese Miller said. 鈥淭he concepts of academic freedom and recognizing cultural perspectives are vital to higher education institutions, and need not compete with one another. Together, these principles allow faculty to thrive and forward their academic disciplines, while also providing students with a fulfilling and transformational experience. Preceding the panel discussion, the Academic Freedom and Cultural Perspectives forum will feature a keynote address by renowned professor and bestselling author Dr. Michael Eric Dyson. Dr. Dyson is a Distinguished University Professor at Vanderbilt University, where he holds positions in both the College of Arts & Science and The Divinity School.

Following Dyson鈥檚 keynote address, the panel will discuss issues relative to both academic freedom and cultural perspectives and how both elements can synergize to create a more dynamic and comprehensive educational environment.

Panelists include:

  • Robin DiAngelo, Associate Professor of Education at Washington University
  • Stacy Hawkins, Associate Dean and Professor of Law at Rutgers Law School
  • David Schultz, Distinguished University Professor at 草莓视频成年 University
  • Tim Wise, National Activist and Author

Following the panel discussion, guests will engage in tabletop conversations. Lunch will be available to those who register.

The Academic Freedom and Cultural Perspectives forum will be held in 草莓视频成年 University鈥檚 Anderson Center on Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The event will also be livestreamed. The event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is required by Sept. 5.
