Mazis Presents at Guthrie Theater Symposium

Professor of history John Mazis presented a lecture, "Cabaret in Place and Time," at the Guthrie Theater's "Cabaret" symposium, taking place on July 12 and 13. The symposium included panel presentations, mini-lectures, and music of the era, and was designed to provide additional context to the Tony-Award winning theatre production "Cabaret," running at the Guthrie through August 24.

Anderson Center Ramp Closing

The Anderson Center Ramp will close at noon on Friday, July 25. No vehicles will be able to enter or exit from that time through the end of construction. Any vehicles left in the ramp after that time will not be accessible until construction is complete. Please plan accordingly and move your vehicle before the ramp closure begins.

Betsy Parrish (²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµ³ÉÄê School of Education and Leadership) gave a plenary address, "The Grammar of Learners’ Lives," at the National Conference for Teachers of English in San José, Costa Rica. She also conducted a pre-conference workshop, "Creating and Sustaining Optimal Learning Environments: Finding Your True 'Teacher Self,'" with educators from the Centro Culturale Costarricense-Norteamericano and Costa Rican Ministry of Education.

NSEE Program Receives $712,000 Grant

²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµ³ÉÄê's Natural Sciences and Environmental Education (MAEd:NSEE) program, housed in the School of Education and Leadership, has received a $712,000 grant from the Legislative Citizens' Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR). This grant will enable the NSEE program, along with partners from the University of Minnesota and Freshwater, to expand and grow the highly successful Teacher Field School, designed to help teachers develop the skills necessary to support pre-K through 6th-grade students in achieving both social-emotional and academic growth through nature-based learning.

Jacques-Fricke Presents at International Conference

Bridget Jacques-Fricke, associate professor in the biology department and neuroscience program, presented her work at the International Conference of Developmental Biology, held June 18-22 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The project, entitled “Characterizing the impact of NSD3 and CAMK2 on cranial neural crest migration and morphology," is a collaboration with researchers at the University of Minnesota and includes data collected by AJ Escalante (’26) and Ethan Heide (’26) during their summer research in 2024.
